Matena’s Story

In 2020, Matena’s life shifted. During the COVID lockdown, her mother received a life‑altering diagnosis, and Matena left teaching to be part of the treatment journey. To steady herself, she began walking daily, photographing the small details of familiar streets—light, seasons, and quiet moments that suddenly felt new.

What started as a private practice moved outward when she began sharing images and short quotations online. Encouragement from family, friends and a nudge from local shop Birds on a Wire helped her refine pieces and approach other shops. With persistence, learning, and loving support from her husband and two sons, she took a chance on herself and grew Moments by Matena.

Moments by Matena makes locally produced stationery and archival prints that honour feeling, place, and fleeting moments. The signature Walk With Me collection invites a slower gaze: greeting cards, postcards, notebooks, calendars, and prints that carry the soft glow of changing light, the hush of coastal air, and the gentle scenes of Vancouver. Rooted in her Greek‑Canadian heritage, each small‑batch collection is thoughtfully designed and lovingly assembled to foster connection—whether for a local celebrating home or a visitor keeping a memory.
